Press:
If the name Black Cock makes you queasy,
then you definitely shouldn't get
anywhere near their sound - squealing guitars form a cage
in which pop
songs are slowly and painfully stripped of their innocence,
forced to
swallow sine wave after sine wave, submit to the surgically
placed
guitars, and lose themselves completely in anthemic gang-vocal
choruses.
--Adam Kahan, Toyota Yaris Music Preview/Review, SXSW 2007
Powered by pulsating, layered vocals, penetrating guitar riffs,
and a
throbbing electro-fuzz, Black Cock generates a piercing ruckus
that
takes turns to soothe and exhilarate. The band signed to Australian
Cattle God Records recently and should fit right in with the
many
eccentric acts on the local post-rock label. There is a lot
going on
in Black Cock's quirky soundscapes but the talented quartet
expertly
blends and organizes all disparate elements and the result
is a truly
unique montage of cacophony and euphony.
